What was the highlight of Phong Nha Rustic Home

Quaint and pleasant

The property is located further down on the main strip, away from the 'down town' area. They had bikes free of use which made it awesome for exploring. Free breakfast was good and included a very tall cup of coffee! Custom-made curtains around each bed were a nice touch for some privacy.

It took a while for the hot water to heat up in the bathroom and after 10 mins it still wasn't that hot, but still showerable.

We arrived from Ninh Binh on a sleeper bus and the staff...

We arrived from Ninh Binh on a sleeper bus and the staff were happy to arrange a FREE pick up from the bus stop at 3:20am! That was really great after a long trip. Staff was friendly and very helpful, helping us rent a motorbike, giving directions and booking bus tickets for us. Very good rooms at a very good price too!

Best homestay we stayed at!

Super sweet staff and the most beautiful rooms! Have nothing bad to say about this place. Free bikes and good food! Booked transfer to Dong hoi so we could catch the bus we booked to Hue. There driver droped us at the wrong place...so we unfortunately missed the bus...but 5 minutes later they booked a new bus for us that picked up us right away...without any extra pay. The service is top notch!

The family are wonderful and so helpful.

The family are wonderful and so helpful. The rooms and beds are big and clean. The breakfast is brilliant.

It was far from central phong nha. But still they would ordee bikes or buses to come pick you up.

What was the highlight of Phong Nha Rustic Home

I liked the style in which the rooms were decorated.

I liked the style in which the rooms were decorated. Rooms were clean.

The smell from the sewage in the toilet; this was an intense smell that kept returning every time the water was used again in the bathroom. It was so bad that we had to shower with the door open as to lessen the vomit like smell. Other than that though, the rooms were very clean! Also, it seemed like you were only allowed to spend your money with the family of the homestay. We arrived late at night thus had not received any information concerning tours of the national park (only one male speaks somewhat English and he wasn’t there when we arrived). We had asked for food and were brought by the family in town to their family restaurant. When we wanted to book a tour with an office in town and we ran into some familymembers on the street they wanted to stop us from booking this. Additionally, since the home stay is located a bit outside of the center and there are no regular taxis you can stop on the street you are quite dependent upon the family when you inquire about something. When you ask for a place to eat they will bring you to their family restaurant, when you want a taxi they will suggest to drive you and will wait for you to drive you back. Nothing wrong with that, but we hadn’t expected this and it felt a bit suffocating. Again, this did also feel like the overall vibe of the village (to earn money whilst they can competing with the other home stays and hotels) + this might have been aggravated by the lack of good communication in English.

Not that great, make sure to have everything planned and booked before coming here.

Family tries to be nice and helpful

Gigantic cockroach in our bedroom (size of the palm of my hand) + Major miscommunication issues (telling they will give us information and then disappear for the rest of the evening)

Calm place, countryside climate, withouth city horning and noise:). Amazing rooms.

It’s a family business and only one person speaks english, so when she’s not in place, nobody is able to help and coordinate anything, which may be frustrating...

Very convenient, lovely place

Our bus dropped us off at 4am instead of 6, so we really had no idea what to do. The host was up right at 6am to prepare us breakfast and tidy the room we were going to have, even though she totally didn't have to. She said check in was 10am, but she let us in at 7:30am so we could drop our bags off! She booked our bus tickets too for the next day!

We arrived very early in the morning and were checked in straight away and served breakfast. There are bikes which you can borrow. The owners were really helpful . They booked buses, tours, trains and even gave us money to save the trip to the ATM. Breakfast was lovely and served when you were ready for it. You could also avail of an evening meal which we did one evening and it was very tasty. Owners are very welcoming and friendly
